ISoP Education Committee Workshop: Mechanistic PBPK Modeling for Emerging Drug Delivery Platforms and Engineered Biologics

Join the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP) Education Committee for a hands-on PBPK workshop at ACoP 2026. This hands-on workshop expands PBPK modeling beyond classical biologics and small molecule therapeutics to address emerging therapeutic platforms and novel delivery technologies. As drug development continues to incorporate advanced modalities such as lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-encapsulated nucleic acids, inhaled and pulmonary delivery systems, long-acting injectable (LAI) depots, and engineered therapeutic proteins with modified binding or transport properties, quantitative frameworks must evolve to capture new mechanistic complexities.
Through guided exercises, participants will explore how mechanistic modeling can inform translation from preclinical systems to humans, optimize study design, and support dose selection for complex modalities.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will:
• Understand key structural adaptations required to extend PBPK models to novel delivery systems
• Learn how to incorporate nanoparticle distribution, pulmonary deposition, and LAI release kinetics into PBPK frameworks
• Explore modeling strategies for engineered therapeutic proteins with altered FcRn binding, tissue targeting, or receptor engagement
• Appreciate how PBPK can inform translational decision-making and regulatory interactions for advanced therapeutic platforms.
